Art Amsterdam 2011

11 May - 15 May 2011
Rai Amsterdam (NL)

Galerie Brandt is proud to present three young artists at Art Amsterdam 2011, from May 11 to May 15; Sander Meisner (1979) photographs the outskirts of of his hometown Amsterdam by night. His analog camera captures the light and beauty of places we’d rather not visit in the dark; old buildings, fallow grounds or bridges.

Painter Sander Cedee (1972), graduated in 2009 at the Gerrit Rietveld academie and was nominated for the Art Olive Jong talent in 2009. He searches for possibilities in painting to create images that are more real then ‘real’. It is not at all about hyperrealism, it is about finding a way to a selfmade ‘more-reality’ with the use of both abstract and ‘realistic’ painting; trying to find a synthesis. In his recent series “Scenes” he captures often desolate interiors like hospitals, that have lost their original fuction.

Sculptor Kim De Ruysscher (1973) bases the content on events or situations which he seizes from daily living that leave a large impression on him. In several of his works, De Ruysscher refers to the art history and the tradition within visual arts by using for example marble as a basic material as well as traditional sculpting techniques. On Art Amsterdam he will show the special project ‘A second life’, with sculptures of sandstone, in the shape of perfectly shaped tree trunks.
