Inside was the first work that Kim De Ruysscher realized after a stay of 10 years in an abandoned marble quarry in the mountains of Carrara. The sculpture was created in a huge, empty and dark warehouse in The Hague where he settled in 2006. The difference in atmosphere with his warm and light atelier in Italy was huge. The dark closed hangar, the impact of urban life and the Dutch social environment were a powerful source of inspiration. With inside Kim teaches the spectator how to transform emotions and impressions into a visual language. The figure takes shelter and wildly tossed looking to create a base in a different environment than he was used to.
