Tussen Begin en Einde

A roll of paper tells us a story consisting of three parts: A history, a present and a future. These three elements are frozen captured or immortalized in white Carrara marble, each with its own identity. Thus, we see the crumpled phase of the sculpture still traces of its history. The present, we can trace in the shape of the sculpture represented in the object, a roll of paper. The future, however, is translated into the new, the undiscovered, and the middle part of the roll. Cherishing the time, tolerance of evolution in any direction, is here as static, unpretentious and displayed in its own banality. This reflection on time goes beyond the idea of ‘time’; it approaches the thought of stature or of life itself.
